Blue Origin sells its last ticket for $28 million
Blue Origin announced Saturday that it had auctioned off a seat on the first manned flight of its New Shepard suborbital spacecraft for $28 million. The winning bidder will travel to the edge of space with Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his brother on July 20. Blue Origin has not yet announced the name of the winning bidder but promises to give more details in the coming weeks.
The auction began in early May with an initial reserve of $4.8 million but exceeded $20 million within minutes of the start of the sale. Saturday's final auction attracted more than 7,000 bids from 159 countries and regions, with a final sale price of $28 million.
