Xiaomi to shut down its MiTalk chat service from next month

Jan 26, 2021 WeChat Xiaomi

While Tencent super app WeChat celebrated a decade of influence in China's online world, Chinese smartphone giant Xiaomi decided to pull the plugs off its messaging app MiTalk.

MiTalk will stop accepting new account registration on 1 February and send the server offline permanently on 19 February. And the closure is due to a business change, as the MiTalk team explained.

Before discontinuing this service Xiaomi has advised the users to export their chat history, personal data and other important things elsewhere. Devices running Android v8.8.70 or above are getting batch export support. The team has also warned that once the service is stopped, no users will be given time to export their information.
