Not long ago, IDC and Canalys both released their global smartphone shipment rankings for the third quarter of 2020, and Xiaomi overtook Apple for third place with 46.5 million units.

On November 5, at the Xiaomi Developer Conference, Lei Jun kicked off his keynote that day with this achievement.

Returning to the top three is an exciting event for Xiaomi, as the last time it was ranked third in the world in terms of shipments was six years ago.

In the third quarter of 2014, IDC reported that Samsung and Apple ranked first and second in global mobile phone shipments, while Xiaomi ranked third in the world with 19 million units, followed by Huawei, Lenovo, and LG. That was the year the Xiaomi Mi 4 was released, the Redmi series had just debuted, and the bracelets were first unveiled. Xiaomi had just entered the Indian and Southeast Asian markets and was ambitiously kicking off its global expansion.
